Aposotolic Religious Life is a gift of the Spirit to the Church and to the world. It is a way of saying God in Jesus Christ, God incarnate who took on the role of a Servant . Amongst others who are baptised, in the Church, it is :
-a particular call to follow Jesus Chrust in a community. - consecration of ourselves to God in the service of others. - a sending on mission to the heart of the realities of the world.
It is in the contemplation of Christ (in the Gospel or in others ) that religious men and women draw the strength and the audacity to be « an evangelical reminder of the Church » and « a brilliant sign of the Kingdom of God. »
It is different from monastice life, principally by the way in which community living is organised. . It tends to unify action and contemplation through everything, every situation leading to a meeting with God in the meeting with others.
Its mission is realised in diverse activities (pastoral, teaching, care of the sick, social commitments, journeying with people …) especially with the poorest. Religious communities are present in several Dioceses , always with the Bishop’s approval , even if they are under direct authority from Rome. |
